For visitors to the Gardens, the Woody Meadows Collection is an opportunity to view a display of highly ornamental species that regenerate after coppicing.
The plants selected for the Woody Meadow Collection have been chosen to provide a visually pleasing landscape that requires few resources to maintain them.
Direction has been provided from the University of Melbourne for the on-going maintenance requirements of these plants.
Developed as part of the Garden for Life, the Woody Meadow Collection highlights the important role Botanic Gardens can play in the researching of new plants, or methods of maintaining.
As part of the collaboration with University of Melbourne, Council will regularly audit the site and report back to the project managers the success of the project.
