Flooding Creek Fungi were on hand at Nakunbalook this week to show some lucky people how to grow their own gourmet mushrooms at home.
Josef Sestokas took the group through the backyard business' successful growing method - cold pasteurisation of straw as a growing substrate.
After the presentation, participants were able to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into making their own mushroom kit.
This is the third seminar in an ongoing series hosted at Nakunbalook that focuses on living more sustainably. Growing your own food is an easy way to reduce packaging, transport mileage and food waste.
So far, Nakunbalook's seminars have included a session on Growing Heritage Fruit as well as a native seed collection and propagation workshop held by Maffra and District Landcare Network. A native plant propagation workshop will be the next seminar, to be held from 1pm until 4pm on Saturday, 6 May.
